Privacy Policy

Universal File Converter & univconv.com — Telconsult

Effective Date: October 14, 2026
The short version: the files and records you convert never leave your computer. We collect only what we need to run the website, deliver your download and license, and support the product, and we never sell or rent your information.

1. Who We Are

This policy covers the Universal File Converter desktop application and the websites univconv.com and nextgencarrier.net, operated by Telconsult (“we”, “us”). Questions go to [email protected].

2. Information You Give Us on the Website

Free-trial sign-up. When you request a trial we collect your first and last name, work email, company, what kind of company it is, and, if you choose to give them, your job title, approximate records per month, country and phone number. We also record the date, your IP address, your browser type, the page or campaign that brought you to us, and whether you have used your download link. We use this to email your private download link, to understand which kinds of companies use the product, and to follow up about your trial.

Contact and support requests. Your name, company, email, phone number, topic and message, plus your IP address and browser type, so we can answer you.

Reviews. If you write a review we collect your name, role, company, email, rating and review text. Your email is not published.

Purchases. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us your name, email, the plan you bought and the payment status, which we use to issue and email your license key and download link. Stripe’s handling of your payment is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy.

3. Emails We Send

We email you your trial download link, license key, receipts and replies to your requests. If you tick “Send me the occasional product update”, we may also send product news; every such email has an unsubscribe link, and we honor unsubscribes promptly. We won’t flood your inbox.

4. Cookies and Website Analytics

We ask before we use any non-essential cookie. When you first visit, a notice lets you accept or reject analytics with equally prominent buttons, and you can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Rejecting analytics, or withdrawing consent later, removes the analytics cookies from your browser.

Strictly necessary cookies (always on, because the site cannot work without them):

Analytics cookies — only with your consent: Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, sets _ga and _ga_<id> cookies (up to 2 years) to show us which pages are viewed and how visitors found us. This information is processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. Until you accept, Google Analytics sets no cookies; it may receive basic, cookie-free signals (such as that a page was viewed) without identifying you.

Our site is also delivered through Cloudflare, which processes connection data such as IP addresses to protect the site against attacks and provides cookie-free visit statistics. Payments are handled on Stripe’s own checkout pages, which use Stripe’s cookies under Stripe’s privacy policy. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. What the Desktop Application Sends

The application never uploads the contents of your files, your records, or your database credentials. Your data stays on your computer and your own database servers.

License checks. Standard and Professional editions contact our license server to confirm your subscription. The check sends your license key and an installation ID (a one-way, scrambled code derived from your Windows installation, which cannot be turned back into any personal information). Our server also sees the public IP address the check comes from, which the Professional edition uses to confirm its licensed location. Lifetime licenses check once, at activation, and then work offline. Free trials register the same installation ID so a trial can only be started once per computer.

Usage reports (versions downloaded from our website). After each conversion the application sends a short record to our server so we can support customers and improve the product: the date and time, the input and output file names and types, the number of records written, skipped and read, whether the conversion succeeded and any error message, and the computer’s local network address, network adapter (MAC) address and Windows user name. To turn usage reports off, set TRK_ENABLED=0 in the file %APPDATA%\Telconsult\UnivConvDirect\UCSETTINGS.INI, or ask us and we will show you how. The Microsoft Store edition does not send usage reports.

6. Data Stored on Your Computer

The application keeps these files on your computer: configuration files (.cfg), the settings file (UCSETTINGS.INI), log files (for example UCLOG.txt and SQLCONV_DIAG.log) and your license record. Database connection settings you save stay on your computer.

7. How We Use and Share Information

We use the information above only to provide, license, support and improve our products, to communicate with you, and to keep our services secure. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the business (Stripe for payments, our email delivery provider, Google Analytics, Cloudflare and our hosting provider), or when the law requires it.

8. How Long We Keep It

We keep trial sign-ups and support requests for as long as they are useful for supporting you and understanding our market, and customer and license records for as long as your license is active and as long as tax and accounting rules require afterward. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see section 10).

9. Security

Our servers are protected by access controls and are reachable only over encrypted connections where the service supports it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

10. Your Choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing [email protected]. You can unsubscribe from product updates at any time using the link in any update email.

11. Microsoft Store

If you obtained Universal File Converter through the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles your purchase and license and may collect usage and diagnostic data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. That collection is governed by Microsoft, not Telconsult.

12. Children’s Privacy

Universal File Converter is a professional tool for business use. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

13. Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version at this address with a new effective date.
